Founder and Executive Director
My background is a teacher for 5 years and a pharmaceutical sales rep for 18 years. I have a Master’s Degree in Education, from Northern Illinois University and Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Michigan University. I am the mother of Justin (15), Charlie (13) and Joshua (9), and the wife of Patrick Fisher. I believe in relying on your faith to get you through life’s battles. I value my time with my family and consider each day a gift from God.
I have been involved in pediatric cancer awareness since June 2011 when our son Joshua was diagnosed. Throughout his journey I presented for many local businesses and organizations to emphasize the need for more funding for research and to support these families throughout the journey emotionally, spiritually and financially. I participated in video campaigns for Camp Sunshine, The V Foundation, The Callahan Foundation, and the American Cancer Society. I have raised money for many other organizations related to pediatric cancer. I have also utilized the resources of other pediatric cancer organizations to help us during Joshua’s battle with cancer. The support of the entire Tampa Bay community has been amazing including all of our sports teams.
I am inspired by my son, Joshua Fisher a leukemia survivor, “Be Strong and Courageous God is with you wherever you go!” Joshua 1:9. We believe there are many types of healing required while your child is battling cancer. There is the medical side which is obvious but also there is the strain and toll it puts on the entire family. We want to be able to provide a respite for these families while they are in the middle of treatment. My family and I created “Baystar Family Retreat”, a nonprofit organization to provide families with a child battling cancer a unique retreat experience where they can have hope in faith, connect with other families facing pediatric cancer and enjoy time with their immediate family outside of a hospital setting. We will bring 5-6 families to a retreat location at a local resort or condo and connect these families with other families going through their child’s cancer journey. We will also partner with the Tampa Bay community businesses and churches to raise money and serve these families at the retreat.
We want to “Be the Light during the Fight!” for other pediatric cancer families.
